Red-belts-down-block        MUSHIM-DO

Mushim-Do is an eclectic art that utilizes aspects of ITF TaeKwon-Do, Shotokan Karate, hapki-do/ hapki-sul, judo, aikido and yoga.

It is designed to give the practitioner experience in multiple martial arts ideologies yet still be, in its own right, a complete martial arts system.

The goal of experiencing multiple martial arts ideologies is expressed in understanding to basic martial arts concepts.  These are the concepts of “linear” expressions and “circular” expressions of technique.  Linear expressions are experienced through techniques from ITF Taekwon-Do and Shotokan Karate.  Non-linear expressions are expressed through the techniques of hapki-do, aikido, and taijiquan.  Grappling is also presented through judo and American Wrestling.

In mushim-do, our main focus is to see the martial arts through a “new” set of eyes.  While it is made up of traditional techniques and style can be expressed through self-defense, sport or fitness; we encourage the practitioner to see it as an “art.”  Just as a dancer expresses it through dancing, a painter through the canvas or a musician through an instrument; the mushim-do stylist expresses art through the movements of the system.  This allows a deeper study that has application throughout all phases of one’s life.
